On May 15, 2008,
the California Supreme Court, by a 4-3 margin, said
it was UNCONSTITUTIONAL not to allow
Gay and Lesbian couples to marry. And with that announcement,
there was a flood of Same Sex Marriages with over 18,000
couples marrying between May and October of
2008.
Proposition 8 essentially stated that "Only
marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized
in California." Throughout the months
before the elections, the proponents of Prop 8 stated
that the Same Sex marriages already done would not be
contested. Yet that is exactly what they are trying
to do now.
Proponents of Prop 8 have hired Ken
Starr as their lead council to defend their
definition of evil. Does the name sound familiar? Yeah,
he's the same guy who went after then President
Bill Clinton for his sexual relationship with
Monica Lewinsky. For one man to be
this concerned with other people's sex life is interesting.
Maybe he is a CLOSET CASE who refuses
to admit who he REALLY IS! Or maybe
he just needs to get laid, whether straight or GAY,
because something is going on in this man's life for
him to continue using his flashlight to peek into other
people's bedrooms!
The California Supreme Court is scheduled
to hear arguments for the repeal of Prop 8 as early
as March of this year. If they already stated that the
law is discriminatory once, they should do so again.
The fact that 52% of California voters
decided to discriminate against another group of people
doesn't change the FACT that it is
UNCONSTITUTIONAL to do so.
Here's to hoping the California Supreme
Court does the right thing again and protects the minority
from the RELIGIOUS TYRANNY of the majority.
