The Mormon Church, Gee, where should I begin!!!
The Mormon Church is said to have bankrolled
the passage of Prop 8 in California and other Same Sex
Marriage propositions. They were the main financial
backers and volunteers of the Yes on Prop 8 campaign.
That an organization that is based out of UTAH
would stick its HYPOCRITICAL nose in
the politics of another state is unfathomable.
That this same organization that has practiced RACISM
and POLYGAMY (and certain factions
still do) since its inception, sits in judgment of someone
else is ridiculous to say the least. The
Mormon Church has used its Tax Exempt status to further
their agenda of HATE and EXCLUSION.
Up until 1978, people
of African Descent were not allowed to receive Priesthood.
Before then, the "seed of Cain"
was a cursed people with the color of their skin being
their mark. The political pressure that was applied
to the Mormon Church culminated with a "revelation"
to then President Spencer Kimball, that said all "worthy
men" could receive the Priesthood. The fact that
their scriptures state that the "lineage
of Cain" could NEVER RECEIVE
the Priesthood, evidently was a lie. I guess political
pressure has a way of changing the interpretation of
the scripture. Imagine that!
While Bigamy and Polygamy were outlawed
by both the United States government and the Mormon
Church, it is still practiced by many factions of the
Mormon Church, including Mormon Fundamentalist groups
such as Apostolic United Brethren, and the Fundamentalist
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The FCLDS
not only adheres to polygamy, but they also force girls
as young as 14 to marry men as old as 49 years old!
These Mormon factions are allowed to practice their
ILLEGAL actions in full view of the
authorities and only recently have there been any government
enforcement to stop them. This practice is met with
a wink, wink, nudge, nudge, reaction or SILENCE
by the Mormon Church. This inaction is interesting considering
their intrusion into the lives of Gays and Lesbians.
In 2008, Mitt Romney, a Mormon and
Republican, ran for the GOP Presidential nomination.
Initially, Romney was the frontrunner in the election.
But the more his Mormon Faith was brought up, the lower
his poll numbers fell. Eventually he was forced to drop
out of the race. Not even the Religious Right
would stand with or support Romney. The shadowy
nature of the Mormon Church effectively derailed
his presidential candidacy and I doubt that will change
anytime soon. The Vatican even sent out a DIRECT
ORDER to not allow the Mormon Church access
to each Catholic parish's registers.
The Mormon Church took an overactive
involvement in the Prop 8 campaign by donating over
8 million dollars to the campaign, volunteering countless
hours telephoning, emailing, texting, and using the
Internet to further bigotry. The fact that the Mormon
Church takes an outwardly neutral stance to POLYGAMY
but an OVERACTIVE stance to Same Sex
marriage shows them to be the HYPOCRITES
that they are. If protecting "Traditional
Marriage" was their real agenda, why don't
they start with their own members who are marrying CHILDREN
and committing RAPE in the process?
If one man one woman is their aim, why do they turn
a Blind eye and a deaf ear to the bigamy and polygamy
practiced by some of their members? Who we marry doesn't
affect them at all. Who anyone marries doesn't affect
anyone else as long as they are both consenting adults.
If it is found that the Mormon Church
abused its Tax Exempt status, this BILLION DOLLAR
industry should be taxed just like any other industry.
BIGOTRY and INTOLERANCE
should not be Tax Exempt!
